چکیده
A good knowledge of the internal dental anatomy and its variations is an absolute necessity for successful endodontic therapy. In cases where variations are not detected therapeutic failure can be expected to occur. The “C-shaped” configuration is among the various anatomical configurations of the root canal system, and this configuration was originally described by Cooke & Cox in 1979(1). C-shaped root canals are characterized by a single ribbon-shaped orifice of 180o (or more). The C-shaped canal system can assume different anatomical variations (2-4). Such canal systems are a significant ethnic variation and are predominantly observed in Asian people (31.5% to 44.5%), (5) but are also present in Caucasian populations (2.7%) (1). C-shaped root canals are commonly observed in mandibular permanent second molars(6) at a frequency of 39%, alUvod

Evaluation of mandibular premolars root canal morphology by cone beam computed tomography
Introduction: To achieve a successful endodontic treatment, the clinician has to identify the different canal configurations.mandibular premolars have the wide variety of root canal morphology and they are known as the most difficult teeth to treat in endodontics.CBCT provides a non-invasive 3D confirmatory diagnosis as a complement to conventional radiography. The aim of this study was to...

PURPOSE This study was performed to investigate the intra- and inter-observer variability in linear measurements with axial images obtained by PreXion (PreXion Inc., San Mateo, USA) and i-CAT (Imaging Sciences International, Xoran Technologies Inc., Hatfield, USA) CBCT scanners, with different voxel sizes. MATERIALS AND METHODS A cylindrical object made from nylon with radiopaque markers (pha...

Introduction: Bleeding is an important complication during implant placement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anatomic situation of the posterior superior alveolar artery (PSAA) in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images in maxillary molar region in an Iranian population. Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, CBCT scans of the edentulous regions of the posterior max...

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence of root fusion and C-shaped root canals in maxillary molars, and to classify the types of C-shaped canal by analyzing cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in a Korean population. MATERIALS AND METHODS Digitized CBCT images from 911 subjects were obtained in Chosun University Dental Hospital between February 2010 and July 20...
متن کاملAssessment of the inferior mandibular canal’s position by Cone-Beam Computed Tomography
Abstract Objectives: It is important to know the exact location and anatomic variety of inferior alveolar nerve canal for different procedures of mandibular surgeries. The aim of the present study was to evaluate inferior mandibular canal’s anatomic position by Cone-beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). Methods: In a cross sectional study, CBCT were taken and assessed from 130 patients (...
